When a friend or family member enters my home they will often laugh at how my first impulse is to offer them warm socks, a blanket, a yummy meal, or even a nap while I watch someone's kiddo. Why do I share this? Because this is me and it will translate into the work we do during our sessions. Minus the nap of course, since we have some work to do! You can kick off your shoes, eat, and drink your coffee if that brings any semblance of calm. We Think more along the lines of incorporating tools that will help you be able to relax in our space (such as essential oils & heating pads if you suffer from chronic pain).
I pull from several theoretical orientations and use what is best suited to the individual, couple, or family in the space. I will integrate CBT which is an umbrella term, Integrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and additional integrative techniques pulled from an array of modalities into our work together.
**I am also currently undergoing training to become a Gottman Certified Therapist**
My course of life has caused me to heavily immerse myself into the world of perinatal anxiety & depression (during pregnancy), fertility issues, postpartum depression &/or anxiety, women's issues, supporting parents with special needs (physical and/or cognitive) children, & childhood trauma. I am highly trained in couples & family therapy work as well.
My private practices are both located in Newbury Park. One is within a residential house in Dos Vientos, a beautiful and safe community located in Newbury Park (a city within the city of Thousand Oaks). I have obtained the exclusive use of this residence for the sole purpose of running this practice. My vision came to life in this space. I want to ensure each client experiences a less clinical office building environment so you can fully immerse yourself into this process and feel at peace while doing so. Conjoined to the office, there is lovely outdoor space with a fireplace as well if your preference is to enjoy the fresh air while we work together. The second office is fairly similar and also adorns an outdoor therapeutic space for when its a beautiful day and you want to relax outside as we work together.
Not only is this an integral, ethical and legal part of my licensing and fundamental to this work, it is a part of who I am by nature. I will take all measures to ensure your confidentiality.
I DO NOT DISCRIMINATE. Anyone is welcome and encouraged in my space.
I am a human. A mother. A daughter. A sister. A wife. A professional. A friend. I understand that life happens! I will have a 12-hour cancellation policy in place where the first one is on the house. Any subsequent cancellations within 12-hours will be charged 50% of their session price.
When I have a client cancel at the last minute it does not allow me the opportunity to help someone else in need or allow me to alter my schedule. Most therapists will charge the entire amount. So let's compromise.
During the first few sessions, we are in a period of assessment. You are also assessing whether I am feeling like the best fit for you or your loved one(s) as well. It is important to me that there is transparency and a mutual ability to be honest if at ANY point in time it does not feel like the best fit. For example, if you are dealing with something that may be better treated with a specific specialist, I will make sure to provide you with that resource and referral. Beyond that, I want my clients to understand that they can feel safe or comfortable pausing or cancelling any further sessions at any time during our work together. This is why I think it is important for a therapist to check in often and I will.
